I feel compelled to add a follow-up to the stress free holiday post from last week. On Friday as we were going through security at SeaTac airport Jack got his hand stuck in between the conveyer belt and 1st roller on the x-ray machine as he was reaching for his backpack. He let out the worst scream I have ever heard and started yelling for help.
It seemed like it took forever for them to shut the belt off and Jim immediately picked him up. I had run through the metal detector as soon as I heard him so I tried to gather all of our stuff (4 pairs of shoes, 4 back packs, stroller, stroller cover, laptop, bags of liquids, oh and Will who luckily hadn’t wandered far.)
Several minutes passed before I saw his hand from across the aisle. It looked really bad. He was already swollen and bruised from the 1st knuckle on his middle finger to the middle of his hand. TSA set-up a chair for him and called 911. The paramedics came and wrapped up the hand so we could make our flight.
Once we were in San Jose Jim took him to an Urgent Care to get it looked at. The doctor took one look at it and said that needs to be x-rayed. Luckily nothing was broken, so he just got a splint and we kept it wrapped up through the night. On Saturday morning it looked so much better, the swelling was already down. By Saturday evening we unwrapped the hand and he was starting to use it. It is still black and blue, especially on his middle finger knuckle, but it doesn’t hurt him anymore.
That was a scream that I will not soon forget. So we are still working on our stress free holidays. Lets hope that was our only Urgent Care visit for a while.

Anything positive on your trip yet?
